65 years after the Hungarian Holocaust there are three class actions in the United States brought by Hungarian Holocaust victims, and their heirs, against the Hungarian Railways (MÁV), the National Bank of Hungary and other banks, and the Hungarian State itself. Two cases are before a federal district court in Chicago, one class action is before the US District Court for the District of Columbia, in Washington, DC.

In addition, after exhausting all remedies before Hungarian courts, there is litigation in Washington, DC commenced the heirs of the Herzog Collection against the Hungarian State and Hungarian Museums to recover certain art objects of the Collection.

The lecture will address the background, dynamics and status of these lawsuits, discuss a bit (really a bit) of the legal issues, and focus on equally important moral dilemmas surrounding these cases.
