Before the Holocaust, about 70–80 percent of the major art collectors were of Jewish origin. Even though many of them were friends of Horthy and were known for their contribution to Hungarian cultural life, their art collections were confiscated and looted in 1944, and the collectors ended up at forced labor camps and concentration camps just like their less wealthy compatriots. What happened to the collections during World War II and where are the objects today? Come and listen to extraordinary family stories embedded in Hungarian history.
